Earlier, Better Ajiya in her petition before Honourable Justice Abdul-Azeez led High Court, said that their conjugal bliss evaporated one year after their marriage as her husband fell woefully in his responsibility of taking care of her and his child.

According to her, her Road Safety Officer had behaved in such a way that she could not reasonably be expected to live with him, saying that they had lived apart for a continuous period of 3 years.

The FMC staff informed the court that the first rented apartment she lived with the respondent as couples in Yola was paid by her up to the moment of filing the petition, explaining that the respondent only once paid house rent for the entire period of 5 years.

Mrs Better added that she stopped cohabiting with the respondent as husband and wife since November, 2016, barely a year after their marriage, and urged the court to end the union since it has broken down irretrievably.

Earlier, Counsel to the respondent, S. Wugira, told the court that he had received instructions from his client not to contest any of the claims in the petition and conceded to the petition.
