LOOTING: N50B CANNOT RESTORE AGRIC SECTOR IN ADAMAWA-Dr.Nyalas.

The Nigeria Union of Agric and Allied Employees, Adamawa State Branch has decried the high level of devastation meted on its offices and facilities by looters, saying, about fifty billion naira cannot restored the properties looted recently.

The state Chairman of the union, Dr. Bathlomew Nyalas,who doubles as the federation chairman of the forum disclosed this to Newsmen in Yola, the Adamawa State capital after inspecting the facilities looted by hoodlums.

Dr.Nyalas who described the damages as colossal and monumental however emphasized that the wheels of governance must move, hence the need for state government to make temporary ‘make-shift’ offices for agric offices affected.

“The Union houses the activities of all the Agric sector in Adamawa State located in kofare.It has just been newly renovated from the little monies we generated and saved over time and all the facilities were totally vandalized, Refrigerators,Air conditioners, cabinets, Televisions, including the PVCs were pulled down.

It was a collosal and monumental destruction that the magnitude cannot be quantify in any form even in a war zone”
According to the Unionist, the vandalisation has a devastating effect that forced workers to be IDPs, seating helplessly under trees.

Dr.Nyalas,pointed out that virtually,all the seven agencies under his union was most hit by the looters whii include; Agric Store office,Divissionary Vetenary Office, Kofare Vaccine store and even the Adamawa Agricultural Development Programme (AADP) was raised down including all the offices in FADAMA 11 and 111 were pulled down.

Also affected are federal Ministry of Agriculture, Upper-Benue River Development Authority in Mbaba, Yola-south andNECAS where all the members are drawn from.

He commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for rapidly responding to the attacks on Governmet facilities by imposing 24hour curfew and issuing and Executive order by arresting the perpetrators.

Nyalas, further called for synergy between the citizenry and the security agents in containing the situation.
