The Executive Governor of Taraba State,Arch Darius Ishaku has urged the Federal Government to allow him and his Adamawa State counterpart,Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to undertake the rehabilitation of some Federal roads considered crucial for the survival of the region for reimbursement upon completion.
Governor Ishaku made the plea in a TV Documentary on the failing Numan Jalingo road contract, saying that if the Federal Government gave the go-ahead, Taraba and Adamawa State Governments could collaborate to accomplish their respective portions of the highway now hindering development because of its poor dilapidated state.
Governor Darius decried how a construction company clearly without the capacity for the project was able to win the contract and expressed doubt that the road would ever be delivered.
The contract for the rehabilitation of Numan Jalingo road was awarded to DEUX Project Limited at the cost of N11.6 billion with an advance payment of N1.7bn granted in July 2017. The total distance of 103.5 km was expected to have been delivered by March 2019. Records show that the contractor in 4 years has been able to accomplish only 3% with a time-lapse of 135%
