FROM EMMANUEL SAMUEL, YOLA
The Adamawa State Police command has dispersed a group of Youths nursing a protest against police brutality on youths across the country.
One of the fleeing youths who spoke to our Correspondent, said they wanted to stage a peaceful protest march from the police roundabout to the office of the commissioner of police to lay complaints on the police brutalities on the youths.
He said the protest was meant to end police’s brutalities and molestations on the youths across the country
” We wrote the police of our intending protest today but we were just gathering for the protest when the commissioner of police sent some of his men to disperse us” he said.
Another source confirmed that the youths were getting ready to start the peaceful protest, when a group of police men led by the DPO Karewa in the state capital to halt the protest and dispersed the youths for no justification.
Tony , one of the youths said the youths were not causing any mayhem and trouble adding that he see no reasons behind the police stopping them from expressing themselves to the authorities concerned.
” It is better to allow these youths expressed themselves peacefully than result to taking up arms and weapons to express themselves” he said
Tony said the police used force and tear gas to chase the youths even though they were not violence or trying to cause any problems.
According to him some of them were arrested and molested and their handsets were also seized by the police.
He said the police later returned the handsets after deleting the recordings in the handsets that has tendencies of incriminating them.
Every Attempt made to get the response of the police did not yield results as the spokesman of the command did not pick his calls.
