…as members bend on advocacy campaign till road totally afixed
The Senator Representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial District,Rev Binos Dauda Yaroe has commended the efforts of youths from Adamawa/Gombe states who came up with advocacy idea of #Fix Yola-Gombe road.
According to him the three senators representing the state in the National Assembly, with Senator Aishatu Binani as their caucus leader months ago visited the minister of works and issues relating to the bad condition of the road were discussed.
“I commend the #FIX YOLA-GOMBE ROAD movement for the attention that is being brought to bear on this very bad road. When we all put our hands on deck and push toward the same direction we will surely achieve the desired result.
“At the end of July 2020 three of us Senators of Adamawa State visited the Minister of Works to discuss the conditions of roads in Adamawa State. Among others, we raised the situation of Cham-Numan segment of the Gombe to Yola road, Yola to Mubi Road and Numan to Jalingo road.
“We went with a prepared position paper and Senator Binani as our caucus leader made the presentation on behalf of the three of us. Following that visit the Federal Executive Council approved a review of the contract to cover the additional work required to solve the 11km portion around Savannah. Progress of work on the bad portion of the road is hampered by the heavy rains. As soon as the rains abate work will pick up in earnest.” Binos said
The advocacy attracted the attention of federal government as Mr Salihu Abubakar,Federal Controller of Works in Adamawa, announced the approval of N7 billion last Saturday while inspecting the road.
Despite this assurances and obvious reasons for the delay of the ongoing part of the work on the Cham-Numan axis of the Gombe-Yola federal Highway, the youths in thousands are bend on serious advocacy campaign until the road is totally fixed.
