Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and has been answering questions bearing on allegations of fraud levelled against him.
EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the development, disclosing that Obasa was invited and he honoured the invitation at the Lagos zone office of the anti-graft agency on Thursday.
“He was invited, not arrested. He is responding to questions. He responded to an invite from the commission this morning,” Uwujaren said.
Obasa, who is a two-time Speaker of the Lagos Assembly, has been accused of embezzling public funds and abusing his office.
He had some months ago appeared before a House panel of inquiry to answer questions on the corruption allegations levelled against him.

While Obasa denied most of the allegations, he admitted that N80 million as estacode was approved for the training of the wives of 20 lawmakers in Dubai.
He was accused of using his office to misappropriate funds and allocate contracts to himself through third party sources, as well as other acquaintances.
The state House of Assembly had cleared the speaker of the allegations, saying they are untrue.
But several anti-corruption groups had kicked against his clearance by the House Committee.
Obasa, who is a two-time Speaker of the House, has been facing several allegations of corruption.
The speaker had some months ago appeared before the House panel of enquiry on the corruption allegations levelled against him.
