The embattled anti-graft agency’s Czar was said to have gone further to tell the panel chairman that he regretted most of the actions he took as the chairman of the EFCC, saying, “My actions were due to overzealousness in my quest to have the job done.”

Magu is currently being investigated for alleged corruption and mismanagement of the loot recovered by the EFCC under his watch, by the committee inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari and headed by Justice Salami, a former president of the appeal court.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) had accused the suspended acting EFCC boss of the anti-graft agency under his watch “not acting in the overall best interest of the country and the policies of this administration due to its mismanagement and lack of transparency in managing recovered assets” among other allegations.
