The pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu has expressed deep shock over the death of former governor of defunct Gongola State, Ambassador Wilberforce Juta.
In a condolence message he personally signed, the former anti-corruption czar said the death of Juta marks the end of an era adding that Nigeria has lost a strong pillar whose life is replete with sacrifices.
Ribadu noted that although he was greatly and deeply pained over the sad incident, he was nevertheless consoled by the fact that the deceased leader has left behind indelible steps that will outlive him.
“I received the news of the death of the elder-stateman with deep shock and a sense of personal loss. At the same time I was consoled by the fact that the great elder statesman has left behind indelible legacies that will surely remain in the reckoning of posterity.
” The death of Juta surely marks the end of an era as he remains one of the few remaining Nigerian progressive leaders whose leadership exploits, feats and commitment to the country’s development remained unparalleled.
” May the soul of this spirited and committed leader rest in peace,” Ribadu said.
