Heavily armed gunmen have killed twelve persons in Ungawar Yabo Community of Tsafe Local Government in Zamfara State.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen carrying AK-47 struck the village in the wee hours of Monday.
The assailants suddenly started shooting sporadically leaving behind a trail of death and trauma.
It was gathered that the attack was a reprisal from a recent attack by members of a vigilante group that killed one Ardo Bala.
A source, who pleaded for anonymity told HumAngle:
“Ardo Bala visited the community to look for labourers to farm for him.
“He was asked to go and come back tomorrow; he left and was stopped by a vigilante group and he was killed.”
Residents claim that the terrorists are using the incident as an excuse to exploit and maim people.
The State Police Command has confirmed the killings at Unguwar Yabo.
They, however, said that only four people were killed and the injured have been taken to the hospital.
