Victor Oladokun, a former Spokesman for the African Development Bank (AfDB) has denied reports making the rounds about Akinwunmi Adesina stepping down as the bank’s President.

Oladokun reacted to a story by a news outlet on Wednesday and denied the origination of the story outrightly in a Facebook post.

The former Communications and External relations Director said; “Akinwunmi Adesina has not stepped down and is still President of the African Development Bank, Africa’s premier development finance institution”.

The U.S. Treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin had rejected an internal investigation that cleared Adesina of the allegations, and asked that the bank conduct a deeper investigation.

Adesina in a statement on Tuesday had expressed his confidence in the fairness and transparency of the rules and systems that govern the bank.

“I am confident that fair, transparent and just processes that respect the rules, procedures and governance systems of the bank, and the rule of law, will ultimately prove that I have not violated the code of ethics of this extraordinary Institution”.
