Bindow: The Mathematical Failure Of The Best Adamawa Governor by Njidda

364

Bindow’s failure is a manifest trial and tribulations from Allah the Most High and however we look at it, unto the same Allah all things, affairs and hopes are returned. Let’s not be confused and disoriented by this failure and begin to rain curses, call names and start insulting or blaming people who might not have been responsible for our failure.

I am calling on my fellow APCians in Adamawa to take heart and imbine the Political Philosophy of late Ibrahim Waziri’s “Politics without bitterness. What has happened has happened and there is nothing any one can do about safe for the will of the Lord Almighty.

It is Allah that gives and it is Allah that takes. Who knows what Allah Has in store for Governor Mohammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow? Who knows which calamity Bindow is saved from by Allah when he takes away the throne from him and gives it to Honourable Fintiri.

It was really a political tragedy and Bindow did not deserve anything less than a win but Allah in his wisdom Has faulted this thinking. Who are we to insist otherwise? What we need in this situation is soul searching and redressing our political steps. We erred in many ways, took things for granted and our failure emanated within from our political flaws.

The PDP in the state did not defeat us, we defeated ourselves. Not many anticipated the danger Azeez’ ADC posed to our chances and the big mistake we made was to write off Nyako as a political busy-body. Azeez’ knew he was not going to win but was very sure that there was going to be a mutual-assured-destruction (MAD) to his party and our party. He was right and we missed that mathematics which later consumped us. All that ADC got was supposed to be for APC. Add what ADC got to that which APC (Bindow) got and you will understand what I am saying here.

We set fire on our roofs and watch our houses burnt to ashes while we stood by and did nothing. If we must be candid to ourselves, many who directly benefitted from Gov Bindow literarily betrayed him and we know them. Bindow himself knows them but didn’t have the guts to send them packing despite our calls in that regard.

Among the Commissioners, Advisers and other footsoldiers, there are pretenders, devils who deserve to be kept at arms length but Gov Bindow instead gave them an open arms for embrace. They embraced him while wrapping their arms around him, they stabbed him from behind. Moles here, pretenders there, hypocrites and sychophants everywhere but the Gov was not bothered.

We have learnt our lessons and I believe Gov Bindow too learnt his lessons one of which is not to seek to please everybody. For you will end up displeasing everybody. The organised work force in the state despise us and didn’t vote for us. But do you blame them? No, I blame ourselves for not sniffing out this dangerous booby trap!

What Gov Bindow now needs from us is our sincere advise, prayers and support so that his four year tenure will serve as a manuscript for which he is going to correct the mistakes of the future. It wasn’t Bindow that is problem but some of us around him. We told him only what he wanted to hear and like hypocrites swallow and refused to tell him what he needs to hear. The wailings and cries of the Adamawa workers, we treated with levity and it later consumped us.

If you look at the number of votes Honourable Fintiri defeated us with and compare it with the number of civil servants in this state which stands at 40,000, you will understand the mathematics of our failure. Gov Bindow is a peace loving leader, kind and pragmatic but he has no helper in us! That’s the truth! We underestimated the resolve of the people of Adamawa to press for change until we finally come face to face with the reality, staring us in the eyes like a scientist staring at a chemical reaction – perhaps explosive!

It exploded and our 4 + 4 could not give us the 8 number. We failed like a house of cards. May Governor Bindow triumph in the future and may Allah vindicates Gov Bindow in the future as the Gov who did his best for his people and let go when the time was up!
