Ex-Eagles Coach Chukwu Very Sick, Needs $50k For Medical


Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Christian Chukwu, is very sick and in dire need of support to enable him get medical attention overseas.

This was made known by the Grand Patron of ex-Enugu Rangers Players Association, Benson Ejindu.

Chukwu, who as a player, led the Super Eagles to their first ever Africa Cup of Nations title on home soil in 1980 needs financial assistance to offset the cost of surgeries and treatments to restore his debilitating health.

The Enugu Rangers legend has been reported to need the sum of $50,000 for a trip to the United States where he will undergo surgery and for other medical treatments.

Cheering news coming from Enugu state is that Chukwu will be discharged soon and in a later date will be flown abroad for medical treatment.

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, who is in the United Kingdom, mandated the Chairman of Enugu State Football Association and Member of the NFF Executive Committee, Hon. Chidi Ofo Okenwa to pay a visit to the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations –winning team captain and get the details of his challenges and what he needs to be done to return him to good health.
