We’re to sanction erring service providers,NCC Assures subscribers

Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has assured subscribers that any service provider who fails to improve services to the detriment of the consumers will be sanction.

The Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Umar Garba Danbatta made the above assertion during the Special Day of the Commission at the ongoing Trade Fair in Kaduna yesterday.

He said the Commission has identified the Consumers’ role in the development of the telecom sector, saying that they deserve value for their investment.

He added that by providing quality services to the customers, it will help the socio-economic development of the Nigerian citizenry.

Danbatta, while speaking, said one of the challenges facing the commission is the issue of unsolicited text messages.

According to him, another challenge that is on the Commission’s front burner is the rising documented cases of cybercrime and e-fraud using telecommunications platforms.

He further explained that cybercrime consists of illegal activities conducted on a computer and mobile device connected to the internet.

While calling on the subscribers to always report any erring Service provider to the commission, he says: ” NCC Special Day is to provide a platform for direct interface to look at issues confronting the stakeholders”.

Danbatta reiterated NCC’s commitment towards ensuring that the commission meet the standard required of the sector
