Gubernatorial candidate of movement for the Restoration and Defence of Democracy (MRDD),Rev. Eric Theman Dollar said the Adamawa state governorship election should be cancelled because of non inclusion of his party Logo.
He said that can go a long way in growing up the country’s democracy which is still toddling to stand Strong amidst many challenges.
Dollar who had earlier call the attention of the independent national electoral commission (INEC), urging them to cancel the last Saturday’s governorship election for not including the logo of his party in the ballot paper said the act undermine the right of any party and its candidate.
Theman in an interview with our reporter in Yola Said whatever the outcome of the election was,it is unacceptable to him and his party.
He said: “I reject the election and urge INEC to stop the process of announcing the results immediately.
“My party’s logo is not on the ballot paper and I will reject whatever is the outcome.” He Said
He stressed that cancelling the 9th March elections of governorship and state House of assembly state is stand and the stand of his Party.
He condemn in totality the action of INEC either by way of deliberate omission or mistake, their action rendered the last Saturday’s elections unacceptable and they have to plan on how to conduct fresh polls in the entire state.
Theman threatened to go court if INEC did comply with his requesting to seek for redressed.
The People’s Democracy Party, PDP, in a Press conference addressed by the secretary of the party in Yola, Barr A T Shehu Said APC in Adamawa state are lobbying the presidency to slam the people mandate with a court injunction by alleged non inclusion of party MRDD logo.
Reacting to the development, the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Adamawa State, Kashim Gaidam, said the issue was beyond his mandate.
According to Gaidam, the INEC headquarters in Abuja was in a better position to explain the situation.
