Adamawa:NMA provides free medical treatment to IDPs,over 6,000 others in Adamawa

As part of activities marking physician’s week , Nigeria Medical Association Associaiton (NMA) Adamawa chapter has provided free medical treatment to over 6,000 patients in Malkohi IDP camp and Mubi general hospital in the state.

Dr Adiel Adamu Apagu, the state chairman of the association made this known on Friday in an interview with newsmen in Yola,saying the beneficiaries of the free treatment includes Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Malkohi and. Mubi General hospital where members of public were attended to.

Apagu said drugs worth over N7 million was exhausted and the beneficiaries of the over 6,200 patients, is made up,of 35 surgeries,including male and female, young and old.

He explained that 51 doctors and 30 supporting staff were involved in the free treatment exercise which was kick started in Yola the stat capital andexpected to end today Friday.

“We also have problem of salary and incentives like housing loan,’’ the union leader said.

“Government should improve medical and healthcare facilities as well as welfare of Doctors to enable us deliver effectively services to the people.”Apagu explained.
