Breaking:Ibrahim Kpotun Idris becomes the next IGP as Arase will be taken a bow to leave office today

Until his nomination, which will be confirmed later on Tuesday (today) by the Presidency, Idris was the
Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja A new Inspector General of Police has emerged.

He is Ibrahim Kpotun Idris.

Idris succeeds Solomon Arase, who has clocked 60 years and is retiring from the Force on Tuesday (today). Before he rose to become AIG, Idris was
Commissioner of Police in charge of Nasarawa State.

From Nasawara State, he was moved to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
He has two degrees from the Ahmadu Bello University, Kano and the University of Maiduguri.

The degrees were in Agriculture and Law
respectively. Idris started his police career in 1984 when he joined the Force as a Cadet ASP.

One of his early postings was as the Divisional Crime Officer for Gusau Division in 1986.

He later became the Unit Commander of 7 Police Mobile Force, Sokoto between 1987 and 1989.

Idris was elevated to the rank of Deputy Police Commissioner (Operations) and acted as Second- in-Command at the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor Leste between 2009 to April 2011
and was later the Acting Commissioner of Police, UNMIT.

In July of 2011, he was appointed the Kano State Commissioner of Police.
He held the position until February 2013 when he was selected to attend the Senior Police Officers Course at the Nigeria Institute for Policy and
Strategic Studies, Kuru, near Jos in Plateau State.He then moved to Nasarawa State as CP.

  1. I can’t withstand this shame of appointing northerners in key position. He is not a president of the north but rather Nigeria.

    Please his advisers should tell him to stay away from this shameful appointment. What goes around, comes around. Jonathan didn’t behave like this.
