The Local Government staff will begin receiving their salaries as from tomorrow, Tuesday 7/06/16 after clearing of checks at the Banks.
We solicit for support and understanding of the general public and especially the local Government staff. The Government is committed to ensuring that it lives up to its responsibilities and seek prayers especially in this difficult period of economic downturn.
It can be recalled that the state earlier paid half salaries for the month of February due to dwindling federal allocation and has been augmenting the balance of salaries with Bank loans. State government workers have been paid regularly but the local Government workers are been owed due to low resources.
The state met two months local Government salary arrears on assumption of office and has promised to settle the backlog.
With this development only the Months of April and May are still outstanding which the state a governor promised to pay soon.
A cross section of residents spoken to thanked the Governor and pray God to help him meet up his obligations especially in this special month of Ramadan.
