The Senator representing Adamawa Central, Sen. Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed known as Binani, Chairman Senate Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has donated 3,001 bags of rice to the people of her constituency in Adamawa state.
In a statement released by her media office on Tuesday, said The Muslim Council (TMC), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Matan ZUMUNTA and other groups in the state were also reached.
Speaking at the event, Hajia Aishatu Abdulrahman, wife of former chief of staff to ex- Governor Jibrilla Bindo, who represented the Senator said the lawmaker implored with people of Adamawa to remain observant and obey instructions from government’s health agencies on COVID-19.
She also apologise for her inability to personally attend the event due to the Abuja lockdown, she urged people of the state to keep being their brothers’ keepers in this challenging time.
“We are here not for merry making or long speeches but to simply start the distribution of 3001 bags of rice to our people in support of the difficulties many families face personally following challenges of COVID 19 world pandemic.”
“In all ramifications, this coronavirus disease is a calamity or a disaster that we have not witnessed in our life time. The senator’s gesture is a personal contribution to our people at this difficult time. It reminds us to be our brothers/sisters’ keepers in times like this.
“I therefore urge all our people to endeavour to be of some help to one another. The distribution is largely centred on all wards in Adamawa Central, and some token extended to other parts of the state in the North and South senatorial zones.”
“We pray to Almighty Allah to guard us through this difficult period and quickly bring to its end.
“We must however remain vigilant, keep obeying instructions from government health officials like regular hand washing with soap, avoidance of crowded places and maintaining social distance,” the Senator added.
