Adamawa state Governor, Rt Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has appealed to citizens of the state to imbibe the spirit of peaceful-coexistence, tolerance and sacrifice as Christians celebrate Easter. He said, this year’s celebration comes at an increasingly challenging period. “A time of disruption of the very social fabric of the people as Coronavirus Pandemic continues to ravage the world forcing a lockdown amid the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ”. He said the season calls for sober reflection and soul searching, urging Christians to use the Easter period to reflect in prayer promoting and sustaining the foundation of love, peace and harmony that the state is known for. He noted that Jesus Christ demonstrated peaceful co-existence, tolerance and sacrifice for mankind throughout his ministry on earth.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri therefore challenged Christians to use this Easter period “As a time that presents the opportunity to rise above those differences that have denied the state growth and development and help steer Adamawa back on the road to progress and stability”. He applauded the people of the state for heeding the stay at home order and for the selfless sacrifice of those working round the clock to preserve lives and protect the vulnerable at a time the world battles Covid-19 virus Pandemic. While wishing the people of the state a happy Easter celebration, the Governor reiterated his administrations resolve to work for the greater good of Adamawa.
