Reps Magaji,Zakaria pleads case for Adamawa constituencies over abandoned projects

The construction of Yola-Song,Little Gombi-Mubi-Gulak 132KV D/C transmission line in Adamawa state awarded by the Federal Government in 2011 has suffered completion and abandoned by Messr skipper Nigeria Ltd.

The Lawmakers representing Mubi North,Mubi South and Maiha,with the lawmaker representing Michika/Madaga federal constituency,Hon Jafar Magaji Mubi and Zakariya Dauda Nyampa,respectively called for the completion of the contract awarded to Messr Skipper Nigeria LTD.

Magaji during a plenary presided by Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila raised a motion on behalf of other lawmakers in Adamawa state said it is an urgent need for the contracted to be completed.

He Noted the House that the construction of Yola-Song-Little Gombi-Mubi-Gulak 132kv D/C Transmission line in Contract Reference No. DC 230.144L5 in the sum of N3,333,744,336.63 with initial completion date of 5th March, 2014 but later revised to 30th of June, 2016 and 31st March, 2018 is laggard as contractors lamented over poor funding.

He also intimate the Honourable lawmakers that the sum of N281,531,713.65 was paid to the Contractor as down payment.

“Messrs Skipper Nigeria Ltd mobilised men and materials to site, they commenced work but later abandoned the site on ground of funding (No Budgetary allocation from 2013-date).

“We are disturb that the delay in completion of the contract has adversely reduced Economic activities and development in the affected areas.” Magaji

The Lawmakers have resolved to urge the Federal Ministry of Power to direct the Contractor to go back to site and continue the contract or return the advance money collected.

“‘We are also calling on the Appropriation Committee to consider and make allocation for the project in the 2020 Appropriation Act and to mandate the Committee on Power to ensure strict compliance with the resolution.” He added
