….No! We are not aligning with anybody and cannot support illegality-NLC

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Adamawa state accused the chapter of the Nigerian Labour congress (NLC) in the state of aligning with the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to “deal” with civil servants in the state.

The APC Public relations officer (PRO) in the state, Alhaji Mohammed Abdullahi said Labour indeed are sleeping over the seen victimisation of their members in Adamawa state.

According to him Labour is known to be an injury to one is an injury to all but for political reasons the Labour Union is no doubt aligned itself with the ruling party against the interest of its members.

APC is calling on the leadership of labour to wake up and do the needful before the worst will happen to the workers of the state under their watch.

Also the organising Secretary of APC Alhaji Ahmed Lawan further reiterated that the industrial Union (Labour) have kept mute without defending the just course of fighting the rights of gainfully employed workers in the state by the anti civil servants decision of Governor Ahmadu Umar Fintiri to regulates the entire workforce in the state.

“I cannot understand why NLC is not saying anything despite the devastating efforts of PDP government to slice down the strength of the work force in ground of regulating or screening them.

” Since the decision of Governor Ahmadu to probe the immediate government of APC under Sen Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindo by taken a deliberate effort to reduce the work force no any official or Private statement by labour Union in that regard. It is purely an act suggesting an alignment right with the PDP government in the state.” Lawan Said

In a swift reaction by the state Chairman of NLC,Comrade Emmanuel Fashe bluntly denied and rejects the submission of APC of aligning with the government of PDP to deal with State’s workers.

Fashe revealed that they are not aligning with anybody against its members as the committee set by the state government Labour is very much in participation and working with them to make sure that the interest of Adamawa state workers is protected.

According to him regardless of how a worker is employed they cannot support illegality and cannot preempt any work of the committee unless they have seen the report to have adverse effects on the workers or not.

He said they are on course to defend, protect the interest of all Adamawa state workers under whichever guise a reason the stamp their feet for the government to centralised the screening.

Emma Said they are after doing the right thing that is why they rejected the screening of House of Assembly workers by the legislative arm of government, called on the executive arm of government to centralise the exercise because is duplication of duty and will stress up the workers in the state.

“How can we align with government with no payment of May/June Salaries on ground to screen workers?

“It is too early to preempts the outcome of the committee unless we see its adverse effects then we take an action.” Fashe said

You may wish to recall that the screening exercise has been a context of controversy since the day a committee was set up to verify staff of Adamawa state polytechnic by Governor Ahmadu.

Barr A T Shehu the PDP state Chairman in many forum said the government of Fintiri is out to regularise the many irregularities of employment done by the past government for the betterment of all people in the state.
