Eliminate Malaria From Nigeria: Adamawa Gets 2.4 million LLIN.
As part of plans to eliminate malaria from Nigeria, the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) in conjunction with Society for Family Health(SFH) and the Catholic Relief Service (CRS) has organized a one day workshop for media practitioners in Adamawa.
The workshop is to provide Journalists an insight into Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets set to be distributed in the state.
According to the organizers, over 2.4million long lasting insecticidal nets will be distributed to households in the state stressing the need for awareness to be created by the media.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO),”the best way for scaling up malaria prevention is the use of Long lasting insecticidal nets.
Declaring the workshop open the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Fatima Atiku Abubakar said the state government is committed to ensure that incidences malaria fever is reduced to the bearest minimum .
Represented by the Director Public Health in the ministry, Dr. Bare Dilli, the commissioner said the ministry is colaberating with relevant agencies and has concluded plans to ensure that all household gets the LLINs.
The last time free net was distributed was in 2010.
