A Commander of a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO),”Gallant Chaplain Corps”, Chaplain Patrick Benson said The Adamawa state of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) had infringed in his right as a citizen of this country that does not commit any crime.
According to him the Civil defence in the state got a wrong information that they are operating as an illegally security organisation in the state which led to his illegal arrest and detention.
Mr Patrick lament that his right and image has been infringed,dent and stained as a good citizen of the country for parading him to Journalist as a criminal who is innocent of any crime.
According to him : “I have not seen it any where in the constitution of this country that an organisation like Civil Defence has the constitution power to keep a suspect in their custody for three days under hand cups like an ardent criminal without taken the person to police or court “.
He narrates the position of their Organization with their Headquarters secretariat office in Kwara State, Irepodum LGA opposite High Court Omu-Aran Aperan way and has Emmanuel Ishiola as the Commandant General Chaplain.
That the Organisation has never known or operating as a security agents but rather an NGO focusing into humanitarian services, ranging from supporting Pastors,Imams for their daily activities. “We also support the hurting as a results of war, crisis and Natural disasters like the Internally displaced persons, IDPs, we do go to their camps with even relief materials.”
When we came in to town we wrote a letter of introduction on 28/3/2016 to all the security agencies in the state, copied specifically to to the said Civil Defence on 22/4/2016 for our recruitment of badge ‘A’ training and stating our mission and aims which we never said we are security agents under any guise.
“If any organization is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission in this country I think is genuine enough to carry her lawful assignments under which it is formed, we as an organization has on 2015 were registered as NGO with the following registration CAC/13867/2015”. He said
“If not because of lack of knowing and doing the right thing how can organisation like civil defence arrest someone without doing the needed investigation,i see a problem some where that needs to be properly address”. He added
Chaplain Patrick enjoin all the Human Rights activist and organisations to help in getting his right back, as be an onlooker will further give many chances to many organizations /People to be doing what is unlawful to innocent citizens in the country.
On wanting to hear from the NSCDC on the issue over a Telephone conversation , the officer that over sees the activities of all the private security agencies in the state Mr. Bamaiyi A. Said Patrick is criminal that operates under false guise and are still investigating the matter.
When call again to explain why they freed him after three days of detention without taken him to police custody or court was not picking the phone to the time this report was gathered.
