Nasarawa state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura also has appealed to the organized labour in the state to go back to work for the interest of the state and the younger generation yet unborn calling on the organized labour to have a second thought on the strike action embark upon.
Al-Makura stated this when the Deputy governor as well as commissioners, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Advisers paid him a Salah homage at the government
House Lafia, saying making sacrifice for the state became imperative.
He described Nasarawa state as a state in a hurry, he attested that the state is just playing the role of a paymaster, “after paying salary of one percent of the population which is workers we have nothing left for the non-working class, and nothing will be left for the execution of projects”.
Umaru Tanko Al-Makura said he has no regret and could not rescind on the policy thrust of the incumbent regime, he however said all and inclusive must sacrifice for the generation yet unborn to enjoin.
As he disclosed that the downward review of workers salary is feasible, unless if our workers would want us to close our schools, unless if our workers don’t want us to supply drugs to
our health facilities, unless if our workers don’t want us to feed students in public schools.
Al-Makura hinted that the downward review of salary would not violet law guiding the new minimum wage. He in addition said the state government did not implement the new minimum wage but a triple wage.
“Some civil servant on level 8 is receiving N15,000 but is now receiving N50,000”
The state governor said the downward review of salary would open a new window of opportunity for the teeming
unemployed youth roaming the street.
